Protaras

Protaras

Protaras is located on the southeastern edge of Cyprus and enjoys the honour of witnessing Europe’s first dawn. The principal town, Paralimni, blends the benefits of a traditional hamlet with the amenities of a modern town.

The tourism area of Protaras runs about 10 kilometres along the eastern shore of Paralimni, from the area of ‘Kapparis’ to the area of ‘Konnos.’ Hundreds of windmills lend a charming, calm appeal to the countryside. This coast is home to fantastic beaches with crystal clear seas, the majority of which have been awarded the famous Blue Flag distinction.

Fig Tree Bay is the most valuable jewel in this coastal area, named for the solidary fig tree planted here by eastern invaders in the 17th century.
