Limssol

Limassol

Limassol was established between two ancient Greek cities, Amathus and Kourion, and was known as Neapolis during Byzantine times (new town). Limassol’s historical core revolves around the mediaeval Limassol Castle and the Old Port. Today, the city has developed along the Mediterranean coast well beyond the castle and harbour, with suburbs spanning all the way to Amathus. The Akrotiri Area of the British Overseas Territory of Akrotiri and Dhekelia is located west of the city.

Limassol hosts many festivals and sport tournaments every year especially during the winter times as the weather boast a 20celcius annually.
